UGANDA: New Ebola case in Gulu

The Ugandan ministry of Health has reported a confirmed case of Ebola
haemorrhagic fever in the northwestern district of Gulu. The patient, who
has died, was a known close contact of a previous case, according to the
World Health Organisation (WHO). The total number of cases for Gulu was
now 395 cases, with 150 deaths, it said. No new confirmed cases have been
reported in the western district of Masindi since 19 December 2000, the UN
agency said. Active case-finding and follow-up of suspected and confirmed
cases was continuing in both Gulu and Masindi, it added. The WHO continues
to recommend that no special restrictions are needed on travel or trade to
or from Uganda.
