SWAZILAND: Foot-and-mouth takes its toll

At least 2,000 head of cattle are to be slaughtered in Swaziland's eastern
Lubombo region this week after veterinary officials discovered they had been
infected with foot-and-mouth disease, news reports said. Mphumuzi Sukati,
head of Lubombo's veterinary department, said the cattle were identified
from about 12,000 inspected at Tsambokhulu. They are to be shot by police or
soldiers.
