The widespread distribution of the findings led to a decision on 9 February 2001 to extend the control policy to cover the area formed by a new boundary stretching south from the Komati river in Mananga to the Mbuluzi river, east of Mjoli dam in the south, then southwestwards along the Mbuluzi river to the south of the Croydon bridge where it turns west along the Nyonyane hills to Ntima dip tank and then to Ndzingeni, Langeni, Shishizela, Jacks Gijimane and Herefords dip tanks back to the border with South Africa.
On 7 February 2001, 84 cattle were found to be positive at Ntsinini and all were destroyed.
On 10 February, 129 cattle were found to be positive in Manjengeni and all 129 were destroyed under veterinary supervision.
The 164 clinically positive cattle found at Mpofu dip tank area were destroyed under veterinary supervision.
During the report period, a total of 377 cattle were destroyed at the contact dip tanks of the grazing confluence of Ntsinini/Bazara/Manjengeni/Mpofu/Magonigoni, bringing the total destroyed to date to 896 cattle.
