Animals epidemiologically linked with the United Kingdom:
The six establishments that had held positive reactors were located in the following five departments: Cher, Mayenne, Oise, Rhône and Seine-et-Marne (see Disease Information, 14 [12], 63, dated 23 March 2001). By prefectorial orders, 3-km exclusion zones had been set up around these establishments for a period of 30 days. These exclusion measures have now been lifted for the following four establishments:
- Cher department: a farm in which 62 sheep originating from the United Kingdom, 44 contact sheep and 65 contact cattle were euthanised.
- Oise department: a farm in which 11 sheep originating from the United Kingdom and 35 contact sheep were euthanised.
- Rhône department: a farm in which 42 sheep originating from the United Kingdom, 45 contact sheep, 80 contact cattle and 40 contact pigs were euthanised.
- Seine-et-Marne department: a farm in which 400 sheep originating from the United Kingdom, 1,400 contact sheep, 30 contact cattle and 12 contact pigs were euthanised.
The other two "seropositive" farms, located in Mayenne department, within the surveillance zone of the outbreak, are still subject to the restriction measures contained in the order declaring the existence of the outbreak. These are two farms in which a total of 769 sheep originating from the United Kingdom, 117 contact sheep and 3 contact pigs were euthanised.

No new cases of foot and mouth disease having been reported, all the European Community measures relating to movement restrictions on live animals and trade in products applied to France have been lifted, with effect from 13 April 2001 at 0 hour.
