Nature of diagnosis: clinical and laboratory.
Date of initial detection of animal health incident: 22 April 2001.

Diagnosis:
A. Laboratory where diagnosis was made: OIE World Reference Laboratory for foot and mouth disease (Pirbright, United Kingdom).
B. Causal agent: FMD virus type O.
