The WHO Regional Office for the Americas (PAHO) has reported a total of 9 cases of yellow fever in the Region of Divinopolis, State of Minas Gerais. Six cases have been laboratory confirmed (IgM ELISA) and have since died. Laboratory studies are underway for the other cases.
A team of epidemiologists from the National Epidemiology Center in Brazil is working with local health authorities to investigate the outbreak. A vaccination campaign has begun.
