Policy Concerns
ATWG works for restraint in the arms trade and U.S. arms export policy.
Bush Administration Review of Defense Exports
The Bush Administration is conducting a comprehensive review of U.S. arms export policy. While
there is very little public information about the review, there is reason to be concerned that
it could lead to significantly looser weapons export policies.
Arms Transfers to India and Pakistan
On January 28, 2003, ATWG sponsored a panel discussion on arms transfers to India and Pakistan. The featured
speakers were Dr. George Perkovich and Husain Haqqani of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Dr.
Jo Husbands of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
