How is it that the *Lancet* cluster studies -- which follow the methods prescribed by the Pentagon's own field manuals -- are not given any credit here, other than being mentioned as too incredible to be believed? Nor are any estimates relating to the results of the U.S. embargo on Iraq from 1991 until 2003. Clearly, Iraqi civilian deaths are well over one million -- perhaps two million or more. That is 1/12 of the population, perhaps 1/10 -- and doesn't count millions of refugees. If the FAS believes anything the U.S. Government says, it is not the organization it once was. And giving credence to the New York Times, whose quondam Judith Miller (now of Fox News, that most reliable of sources regarding the world!) helped to get us into Iraq with her multiple sources of Chalabi, Chalabi, and Chalabi, is even worse. It would seem that Americans are pretty much divorced from any objective reality. Nobody can admit to grimly reaping what the U.S. sowed. What an awful statement about "news" in the U.S.A.
