I understand you don't own the engine – have you at least fed back

the desire for Linux support to those who DO own the engine? Any

predictions of when a Linux version might be available?

I welcome contributions!  But the code for the engine is not ours to open.   Viscious Engine is our engine.  It works great, makes the game fun to play….  so we want to keep it.  We tried open source engines, but we had no success with them.

On the one hand, that's a shame. It leaves you at the mercy of Viscious Engine as to what platforms you can support. Windows IS ubiquitous so there are many seats that can run the game, but it isn't the only game in town and the alternative platforms are gaining share.

On the other hand, I see that the engine is now supporting Wii and playstation – but it is not yet supporting Linux, OSX, iPhone etc, etc. There are a lot of places you can't play this and that shouldn't be so. A proprietory engine will likely be geared twoards locking content down as that is what game makers want but a public good should be geared toward freeing content and there might be incompatibilities in roadmap there.

Why there is no linux version? If the game is for educational and

non commercial purpose it should run on linux or source should be

realeased… Linux is very educational for people who love programing

and computing so it makes no sense that there is no linux version…

Vedran,

Thanks for writing.  I am glad you liked the trailer, and I hope you like the game.  Immune Attack 2.0 is in development now….  many improvements and exciting additions are coming!

It is something we discuss.  We encourage students/anyone to submit their game ideas, or even 2D mini-game levels.  We will post them!

Sincerely,

Melanie

Hello,

Have you considered open sourcing the code of the game? Personally I think it would make a lot of sense, and enable talented outsiders to contribute to the game.

Anyway, thanks for making this, I'm still downloading, but it looks very interesting, similar to what I've had in mind about how those games should look like.
