During ceremonies, March 5, at the Air Intelligence Agency courtyard, Kelly AFB, Texas, Col. Gilly Marshall took the reins of AIA’s 690th Information Operations Group.
The 690th IOG, which is made up of the 690th Intelligence Support Squadron, 690th Computer Systems Squadron and the 690th Information Operations Squadron employs about 400 military and civilian members.
"What can one say when given the opportunity to command such an amazing and wonderful organization," Marshall said. "Command’s a sacred trust. I promise I will not take it lightly."
Marshall is no stranger to Kelly. He has been assigned here previously as a communications engineer, Air Force Electronic Warfare Center; a logistics staff officer , Headquarters Electronic Security Command; deputy commander, logistics at the 67th Intelligence Wing; and commander of the 6960th Electronic Security Group and 67th Support Squadron.
He comes to Kelly from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, where he was the commander of the 692nd Intelligence Support Squadron. "I’m going to work tenaciously for you to make sure that you get what you need to satisfy the requirements," Marshall said, adding, "we are going to work hard and have fun."
The outgoing commander is Col. Gary Davis, who was reassigned to Air Force Space Command at Peterson AFB, Colo.
In farewell remarks, he said, "The group is young as Air Force organizations go.
"You (Marshall) are inheriting a group that is ready for the challenges of the 21st Century and has prepared hard for the Y2K challenge."
Maj. Gen. John R. Baker, AIA commander, presided over the ceremony.
