The 67th Intelligence Wing’s Booster Club, located on Kelly AFB, was recognized as one of San Antonio’s Outstanding Adopt-A-Spot groups recently at the Fourth Annual Environmental Leadership Awards.

The wing’s booster club won the award for keeping their 1.3-mile section of Medina Base Road clean. Since March 1996, booster club volunteers have gone out one Saturday morning every three months to clean up debris that accumulates near the roadway.

The award is sponsored by Keep San Antonio Beautiful, Inc., a grassroots organization dedicated to community beautification.

Mayor Howard Peak presented a plaque to Linda Usborne, a key organizer of the Medina Base Road Adopt-A-Spot.

“We know what we do is valuable to helping out the civilian community,” said Usborne.

Also on hand for the presentation were William Woods, booster club president, and Lt. Col. Kenneth Neuhaus , 67th IW director of staff.
