AIA announces Senior IMA of the Year

SMSgt. Ronald Charrette resides in Dorchester, N.H., has been in the Air Force for 30 years, and is the 1999 Senior IMA of the Year.

He is an AIA individual mobilization augmentee assigned to Headquarters National Security Agency as a command language program manager attached to the 694th Operations Support Squadron at Fort Meade, Md.

Charrette enlisted in the Air Force and began active duty in 1969 and transferred to the Air Force Reserves in 1977. He began civilian employment with the NSA where he received additional professional certification as an intelligence analyst and as adjunct faculty for the Joint Military Intelligence College.

His idea of success is “changing people’s attitudes and improving their capabilities for the better.” He said that leaving every organization in better shape than when he arrived and going home feeling positive about what he’s done are also his ideas of success.

He developed and implemented initiatives to provide regular and tailored information and support to Air Force Reserve linguists in 23 states and three foreign countries.

When asked how receiving the award would change him, he replied, “I think getting the award makes me want to show that I have the potential to deserve it.”
