The 381st Intelligence Squadron defended its Warrior Olympics crown recently by dominating the rest of the Elmendorf AFB field.

The 381st IS won 11 events and placed in a host of others, beating the second-place 517th Airlift Squadron by more than 700 points.

Maj. Kathy Preston set the pace by winning the coveted “Iron Woman” competition for the second time in a row.

The dominance was a repeat of their August ’98 performance where they claimed the title by nearly 1,000 points.

Warrior Olympics is an annual athletic competition hosted by the 3rd Wing at Elmendorf to enhance esprit de corps and morale among Team Elmendorf members.

The games included more than 30 different events, including everything from fly casting to a triathalon. The competition kicked off the wing’s 80th Anniversary celebration, was followed by a giant picnic, and culminated with a performance by jazz artist Freda Payne.

The 381st IS is well known throughout the Elmendorf community, as they also hold Elmendorf’s Commander’s Trophy.
