The 97th Intelligence Squadron recognized its best people at the Air Force Intelligence Awards Banquet at Goodfellow AFB, Texas.
The event honored notable airmen and civilians who hold intelligence Air Force specialty codes or a civilian equivalent.
Numerous award categories included Reserve awards for intelligence personnel assigned to the Air National Guard, U.S. Air Force Reserve and Category B Individual Mobilization Augmentees.
SSgt. Glynnys Pentecoste was awarded the 1999 Air Force Intelligence Award for Outstanding Reserve Duty Airman of the Year and David Mansfield was named the Outstanding Intelligence Senior-Level Civilian of the Year.
Pentecoste is a linguist who started out in the squadron’s training flight, then moved into the Standards and Evaluations Flight. She taught herself a database program that literally revolutionized the way the flight did business.
When Pentecoste separated from active duty and entered the Air Force Reserve, she remained in the flight. After numerous accomplishments and achievements, the 97th IS commander selected Pentecoste his executive officer.
Since the banquet, Mansfield has moved from the 97th to Buckley ANGB, Colo. Mansfield served as the 97th’s intelligence production manager subject matter expert for the squadron. He was also the single point of contact for research and analysis for both the 67th and 55th Wings.
