CIAMBRONE
A member of the Air Force Technical Applications Center, Ciambrone was recognized as “a pioneer in the development of collection, processing and analysis methodologies to detect and characterize atmospheric nuclear explosions.”
He directed the U.S. Atomic Energy Detection System during one of its most critical challenges of tracking debris during the Chernobyl disaster. He initiated what has since become a major AFTAC mission of providing high-technology support to the warfighter. Tom Ciambrone “truly earned the title of the ‘Centurion of AFTAC,’” officials said.
