HETHERINGTON
A pioneer and the first “in- resident” commander of AIA’s predecessor, the U.S. Air Force Security Service, from July 1949 to January 1951, Hetherington was credited with bringing USAFSS to operational status and “setting the course for the future” of the fledgling organization.
He was recognized for “setting the standard for the command which formed the groundwork for the mission successes and contributions to national security the command was to achieve in the years to come.”
