SANDOVAL

Sandoval was recognized as the “consummate manager whose talents set him apart as a leader and not just another supervisor.” He was credited with shaping the careers of many men and women in the command.

He transferred to the Air Force from the Army and at age 23 was promoted to senior NCO status in the 1st Radio Squadron Mobile, a unit noted for its support to the Korean War effort. In 1963 he was assigned to airborne duty in Japan and launched “the first cadre of airborne operations in the Vietnam War.”
