d. Priorities of Protection.

(1) Criticality - How essential is the element?
(2) Vulnerability - How well can the element survive on the battlefield?
(3) Recuperability - How fast can the element recover from damage?
(4) Threat - What is the chance the enemy will attack an element?

(1) Mass - Sufficient assets to defend sector.
(2) Mix - Balance of assets to offset limitations of one with the capabilities of another.
(3) Mobility - Ensure units are as mobile as the elements they protect.
(4) Integration - Close coordination with maneuver elements to ensure unity of effort.

Engineers as Infantry

a. Advantage - Trained and equipped to fight as infantry, secondary role.
b. Disadvantage - Lose them as engineers.
