SLIDE 1: AVIATION OPERATIONS

1. Aviation uses many assets and is organized for many missions

SLIDE 2: AVIATION MISSION SLIDE 3: AVN BDE - AR/MECH DIV SLIDE 4: AVN BDE - LT DIV

a. Question: What is the mission of Aviation? MISSION: To find, fix, and destroy the enemy through fire and maneuver. b. In an AR/MECH DIV they have AH-64, OH-58D, and UH-60 helicopters along with M1 tanks and M3 CFVs in the Cavalry Squadron. c. In the light Division the aircraft are for protection of the ground troops until they can establish themselves.

SLIDE 5: AVN BDE - AASLT DIV

d. In the Air Assault Div the majority of the aircraft are CH-47D and UH-60. They are used for ferrying troops. More AH-64s than light division. Used to protect the assault aircraft.

SLIDE 6: AVN BDE - ABN DIV

e. In the Airborne Division they are essentially the same as the light divison. The Cavalry squadron has HUMMWVs with TOWs for protection.

a. RECON - Gain information about the enemy and terrain. b. Security - Protect the force. c. Economy of Force - Enable larger units to do other missions. d. Covering force is a primary mission for a Cavalry unit. Protects the main force, develops the situation and destroys enemy recon.
