RMKS/1. THE UNDERGRADUATE INTELLIGENCE PROGRAM (UGIP) IS AN
EDUCATION PROGRAM AT THE JOINT MILITARY INTELLIGENCE COLLEGE (JMIC).
THE PROGRAM IS ORIENTED TOWARD SENIOR ENLISTED INTELLIGENCE PERSONNEL
IN MOS 02XX AND 26XX. THE UGIP CURRICULUM CONSISTS OF 38 WEEKS OF
UNDERGRADUATE-LEVEL ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION AT THE JMIC, WASHINGTON,
DC. THE ACADEMIC YEAR 1997-98 PROGRAM WILL CONVENE 08SEP97.
2. PREREQUISITES FOR APPLICATION TO THE UGIP PROGRAM ARE:
A. GRADE: SSGT THROUGH GYSGT
B. MOS: 02XX OR 26XX
C. MINIMUM OF EIGHT YEARS OF INTELLIGENCE/CRYPTOLOGIC
EXPERIENCE.
D. COMPLETION OF CMC DIRECTED PME.
E. EDUCATION:
(1) HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE AS CERTIFIED BY A SECONDARY SCHOOL
DIPLOMA OR GED.
(2) SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF AT LEAST 15 SEMESTER HOURS OF
COLLEGE CREDIT, WITH A CUMULATIVE GPA OF 2.0 OR HIGHER ON A 4.O
SCALE (NOT WAIVERABLE). CREDIT MUST HAVE BEEN EARNED IN RESIDENCE AT
A REGIONALLY ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. CORRESPONDENCE AND
EXTENSION CREDIT WILL NOT SATISFY THE 15-HOUR REQUIREMENT. A
CERTIFIED COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS DESCRIBING COMPLETED UNDERGRADUATE WORK
MUST ACCOMPANY THE AA FORM.
F. SERVICE REQUIREMENTS:
(1) APPLICANTS REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 2 YRS TIME ON STATION AND
IF ASSIGNED TO AN UNACCOMPANIED TOUR, MUST BE WITHIN 60 DAYS OF RTD
UPON CLASS CONVENING DATE OF 08SEP97.
(2) REQUEST COMMANDING OFFICERS CERTIFY APPLICANTS'
ELIGIBILITY FOR REENLISTMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH MCO P1040.31G. ALSO,
REQUEST THAT HEIGHT AND WEIGHT BE DOCUMENTED IN THE COMMANDING
OFFICER'S ENDORSEMENT.
G. MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR SCI ACCESS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AT THE JMIC
(NOT WAIVERABLE).
H. WAIVERS: ANY WAIVER REQUEST MUST BE ADDRESSED IN DETAIL IN
THE COMMANDING OFFICER'S ENDORSEMENT WITH SPECIFIC RATIONALE AS TO
WHY IT SHOULD BE GRANTED.
3. UGIP STUDENTS RECEIVE A JOINT MILITARY INTELLIGENCE COLLEGE
COMPLETION CERTIFICATE UPON GRADUATION FROM THE UGIP PROGRAM. IT
SHOULD BE STRESSED THAT UGIP IS NOT A DEGREE COMPLETION PROGRAM, BUT
RATHER A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR CAREER INTELLIGENCE
PERSONNEL. THEREFORE, AS LONG AS THE APPLICANT POSSESSES THE MINIMUM
15 SEMESTER HOURS, THE AMOUNT OF COLLEGE AN INDIVIDUAL MARINE HAS
PREVIOUSLY ACQUIRED WILL NOT BE A DETERMINING FACTOR IN SELECTION.
4. APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ON AN ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION FORM
TO CMC (CODE C4I/CRP), VIA CHAIN OF COMMAND, BY 15FEB97. AA FORM AND
ENCLOSURES WILL DOCUMENT PREREQUISITES. INCLUDE AN OFFICIAL
PHOTOGRAPH PER THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN MCO P1070.12, PARA 2002.
DEPLOYED MARINES MAY SUBMIT CORRESPONDENCE TO THE BOARD, VERIFIED BY
THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER, DOCUMENTING THEIR HEIGHT AND WEIGHT (IF A
PHOTO CANNOT BE FORWARDED). COMMANDERS OF MARINES WITH ALTERNATE
WEIGHT STANDARDS WILL ENSURE DOCUMENTATION APPROVING THE ALTERNATE
WEIGHT IS SUBMITTED ALONG WITH THE PHOTOGRAPH TO CMC (CRP). PACKAGES
WITHOUT PHOTOS, FOR NON-DEPLOYED MARINES, WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
5. APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED BY A SELECTION BOARD CONVENED AT
THIS HQ AND SELECTEES WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MSG. ONCE NOTIFIED,
SELECTEES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS FORWARDED
TO THE JMIC BY THE ISSUING INSTITUTION (COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY) BY
1MAY97. ADDITIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED IN
THE SELECTION MSG.//
