Ljubizda: (checkpoint).

Checkpoint operations are only authorized in 27 locations in Kosovo, as freedom of movement is essential to the return of the IDPs to their original homes. Checkpoints, or more appropriately observation points may not be fortified, nor should identification checks be conducted. Photo taken from a U.S. Air Force U-2.

Ponosevac: (damage).

Heavy conflict in and around Ponosevac resulted in substantial damage. In June, many refugees fled during the attacks. This area was reported as a UCK stronghold in May 1998. Photo taken from a U.S. Air Force U-2.

Rakovina: (damage).

This damaged town is a result of heavy conflict in the area; many buildings have been damaged as a result of indirect fire and acts of arson have been reported in this area. Additionally, mortars were probably employed due to the thickness of the walls in the structures. Photo taken from a U.S. Air Force U-2.
