Hangars

There is almost 300,000 square feet of hangar space at Groom Lake. At the North end of the facility there are four 28,000 foot hangars at the north facility, measuring 220 feet wide by 120 feet deep.

Red Hat Squadron

Hangar 5, (the Northeastern most of the four large hangars in the image) probably contains the YF-110 and YF-113 aircraft used in the foreign material exploitation program code named "Red Hat."

The grey hangars south of the four large hangars contain the base machine shop, aircraft ground equipment maintence, the base battery shop, vehicle paint shop, and various other support functions.
