A. DESCRIPTION: THE RC-12N IS THE AERIAL PLATFORM FOR THE GUARDRAIL COMMON SENSOR SYSTEM 1 AIRBORNE RELAY FACILITY. THE RC-12N IS A TWIN TURBOPROP AIRCRAFT OPERATED BY A FLIGHT CREW OF TWO. THE AIRCRAFT MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT IS 16,200 POUNDS. B. CAPABILITIES: THE RC-12N PROVIDES A PLATFORM FOR THE AN/USD-9C IN A HIGH ALTITUDE, HIGH THREAT ENVIRONMENT. C. EMPLOYMENT: THE AIRCRAFT CARRIES ALOFT THE AIRBORNE PRIME MISSION EQUIPMENT OF THE COMMUNICATIONS INTELLIGENCE GATHERING SYSTEM (GUARDRAIL/COMMON SENSOR SYSTEM 1) FOR BOTH PEACE AND WARTIME MISSIONS. D. BASIS OF ISSUE: REPLACES THE RU-21H IN SRC 34418L100 AND THE RV-1D (QUICKLOOK II) IN SRC 34417L100 ON A 1:1 BASIS. E. POWER REQUIREMENTS: ONBOARD AIRCRAFT POWER. F. TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS: NONE. G. PERSONNEL/MAINTENANCE IMPACTS: (1) OPERATOR: MOS 15C, 155E (2) MAINTAINERS: THE AIRCRAFT SYSTEM WILL BE MAINTAINED UNDER DIRECTED LIFE CYCLE CONTRACTOR SYSTEM.
