DESCRIPTION: THE TRUCK AIR VEHICLE TRANSPORTER/HANDLER (TAVTH) CONSISTS OF A MODIFIED 5 TON TRUCK (M942A2 W/WINCH) WITH A HIAB 650/1 CRANE CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING AIR VEHICLES IN A CONTAINER TO AND FROM LAUNCH/RECOVERY SITES. THE TAVTH IS CAPABLE OF OFFLOADING AIR VEHICLES IN THE CONTAINER FROM THE VEHICLE, REMOVE AND REPLACE THE AIR VEHICLE FROM ITS CONTAINER ON THE GROUND OR ON THE TRUCK. L=438", H=103", W=97", WEIGHT= 26,850 LBS. B. CAPABILITIES: THE TAVTH IS A SPECIALY DESIGNED M942A2. THIS TRUCK HAS A FLATBED WHICH HAS BEEN LOWERED TO ACCOMODATE TWO UAV COFFINS AND STILL MEET THE MAXIMUM HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS FOR AIR TRANSPORT. THE CRANE ON THIS TAVTH CAN BE UTILIZED TO PLACE/REMOVE UAVS FROM THE NON TAVTH TRANSPORTERS CARRYING THE REMANING COFFINS. C. EMPLOYMENT: LOCATED AT THE LAUNCH AND RECOVERY SITE. EACH TAVTH WILL BE COLOCATED AT THE CORPS/DIVISION AIRFIELD OR UNIMPROVED SITE WHERE UAV LAUNCH AND RECOVERY OPERATIONS EXIST. D. BASIS OF ISSUE: FOUR PER LAUNCH AND RECOVERY SECTION, AIR RECON CO, MI BN (AE), MI BDE, CORPS. TWO PER LAUNCH AND RECOVERY SECTION, AIR RECON PLT, MI BN, HEAVY, AIRBORNE AND AIR ASSAULT DIVISIONS. TWO PER LAUNCH AND RECOVERY SECTION, MI CO, ACR (HEAVY). E. POWER REQUIREMENTS: NONE F. TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS: IS AIR TRANSPORTABLE BY C-130/C-141/C-5/C-17 G.
