A. DESCRIPTION: THE AIRBORNE RELAY FACILITY (ARF): AN/ARW-83(V)7 (Z04300) IS THE AIRBORNE MISSION EQUIPMENT OF THE GUARDRAIL/COMMON SENSOR SYSTEM 1(GRCS-1) AN/USD-9C. IT CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT INSTALLED IN A RC 12N AIRCRAFT (Z04821): INTERCEPT RECEIVERS DIRECTION FINDING EQUIPMENT DF RECEIVER AIRBORNE PORTION OF AN AUTOMATIC SIGNAL CLASSIFICATION AND RECOGNITION SYSTEM (SCARS) INTEROPERABLE DATA LINK EQUIPMENT FOR ACHIEVING A MICROWAVE LINK TO THE AN/TSQ-176(IPF) (BOIP M087AB THRU M087AE) COMMUNICATIONS HIGH-ACCURACY AIRBORNE LOCATION SUBSYSTEM (CHAALS) ADVANCED QUICKLOOK SYSTEM B. CAPABILITY: THE AIRBORNE RELAY FACILITY AN/ARW-83(V)7 PROVIDES AN INTERCEPT PLATFORM WHICH FEEDS RAW DATA VIA MICROWAVE LINK (AN/UPQ-3C) (Z35531, BOIP M087AH) TO THE AN/TSQ-176(IPF). IN ADDITION, IT PROVIDES A RELAY FROM THE VARIOUS COMMANDERS TACTICAL TERMINALS(CTT) AN/TSC-125 IN THE FIELD, TO THE IPF. THE GRCS-1 WILL RECEIVE 12 EACH ARF'S. C. EMPLOYMENT: THIS SYSTEM IS EMPLOYED ONLY TO THE MILITARY INTELLIGENCE BRIGADE, AERIAL EXPLOITATION BATTALION, CORPS. (34418C100) D. SPECIAL NOTES: 1. AS OF JUNE 1993, THE HISTORY OF THE GUARDRAIL FAMILY IS AS FOLLOWS: THE BASE ITEM IN ALL AERIAL EXPLOITATION BATTALIONS IS GUARDRAIL V (GRV). GRV WAS FIELDED TO USAREUR, 15TH MI BN, FT HOOD and 224TH MI BN, HUNTER ARMY AIR FIELD, GA. GRV WAS REPLACED BY IGRV, AN/USD-9A, AT USAREUR AND FT HOOD. THE IGRV IN USAREUR WAS THEN REPLACED BY THE GUARDRAIL COMMON SENSOR SYSTEM 4 (GRCS-4), WHILE THE IGRV IN FT HOOD IS SCHEDULED TO BE REPLACED BY THE GUARDRAIL COMMON SENSOR SYSTEM 2 (GRCS-2) IN 1997. GRV WAS REPLACED BY GRCS-1 IN THE 224TH MI BN IN SEP 93. 2. GRCS-1 CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING LINS: Z04300 (M087AA), Z48621 (M087AB), Z32369 (M087AC), Z48553 (M087AD), Z32437 (M087AE), Z75613 (M087AF), Z16650 (M087AG), Z35531 (M087AH), Z42189 (M087MA), Z38388 (M087MB), Z38320 (M087MC). 3. BOING IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR PUBLICATION IN AR 71-13. 4. PERSONNEL CHANGES: ALL PERSONNEL CHANGES GENERATED BY THE GUARDRAIL COMMON SENSOR SYSTEM I BOIPS (I.E. M087AB, M087AC, M087AD, M087AE, M087MA, M087MB AND M087MC) WERE AFFECTED USING BOIP M087AA. A. MOS 155D, U-21 PILOT (A30591, GRV SYSTEM) TO 155E, RC-12 PILOT FOR Z04549. B. MOS 15C00 IN AFFILITION WITH ASI's F2 (FOR RU-21) TO F3 (FOR RC-12). THE WARRANT OFFICER AND OFFICER CHANGES OCCURRED IN THE HEADQUARTERS, HEADQUARTERS AND SERVICE COMPANY AND THE ELECTRONIC WARFARE COMPANY USING THE RC-12N BOIP (H127MA). 5. THE 33R AERIAL SENSOR REPAIRER REQUIREMENTS AS DEPICTED IN TOE 34418C100 AND THIS BOIP ARE DIRECTLY COMMENSURATE WITH PERSONNEL AUTHORIZATIONS CURRENTLY DOCUMENTED IN GRCS-1 UNITS 6. GRCS-1 REPLACES THE QUICKLOOK SYSTEM IN THE AVN CO AERIAL SURVEULLANCE OF THE AEB. ALL PEOPLE WERE REPLACED USING M087AA. EQUIPMENT WAS REPLACED USING M087AA, M087MC, M087AB AND M087MA. 7. ALL PERSONNEL CHANGES GENERATED BY THE GRCS-1 BOIPS WERE AFFECTED BY USING BOIP (M087AA).
