SPECIAL NOTES: 1. MAINTENANCE CONCEPT: a. THE MAINTENANCE CONCEPT FOR CHATS IS AT THE CONFIGURED ITEM (CI) LEVEL AND NOT THE SYSTEM LEVEL. IT IS TWO-TIERED, CONSISTING OF UNIT AND DEPOT LEVEL MAINTENANCE ONLY. THE MAINTENANCE FOR CHATS IS PRIMARILY BY LINE-REPLACEABLE-UNIT (LRU). CHATS COMPONENTS ARE COTS/NDI ITEMS. b. OPERATORS WILL INITIATE OPERATOR TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES IAW TECHNICAL MANUALS (TM) OR OTHER APPLICABLE MANUALS TO FAULT ISOLATE FAULTY LRU PRIOR TO NOTIFYING THE CONTRACTOR DEPOT AT FORT HOOD, TX. c. CHATS OPERATORS WILL NOTIFY THE FIELD OFFICE INTEL- LIGENCE FUSION AT FORT HOOD, TX, EITHER TELEPHONICALLY OR VIA E-MAIL OF ANY FAILURES. FIELD OFFICE INTELLLIGENCE FUSION MAILING ADDRESS: MANTECH TELECOMMUNICATIONS & INFO SYS CORP, P.O. BOX 810, COPPERAS COVE, TX 76522-0810. d. THE UNIT AND CONTRACTOR DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE OF FAILURE AND IDENTIFY THE LRU THAT HAS FAILED. ONCE THE FAILED LRU IS IDENTIFIED, CONTRACTOR DEPOT PERSONNEL WILL EXPEDITE DELIVERY OF A REPLACEMENT LRU TO THE USER VIA AN OVERNIGHT DELIVERY SERVICE. THE USER WILL REPLACE THE FAILED LRU WITH THE DELIVERED LRU AND THEN RETURN THE FAILED LRU TO THE CONTRACTOR DEPOT IN THE ORIGINAL SHIPPING CONTAINER. e. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT REPLACEMENT, IN THIS CASE, CONSISTS OF UNPLUGGING THE FAILED COMPONENT (E.B. THE NOTEBOOK, CAMERA, PRINTER, OR SCANNER) FROM THE CARRYING CASE AND PLUGGING IN THE NEW COMPONENT IN THE SAME PLACE. TOOLS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS ACTION CONSIST OF NO MORE THAN A SCREDRIVER (SUPPLIED W/SYSTEM) TO DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT ANY CABLES. IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT THE CARRYING CASE (AND THE ASSOCIATED POWER SUPPLY) IS THE FAILED LRU, THEN THE USER WILL REMOVE THE ABOVE MENTIONED COMPONENTS FROM THE LRU CARRYING CASE AND THEN INSTALL THEM IN THE NEWLY ARRIVED CARRYING CASE. RETURN MAIL DOCUMENTATION WILL ACCOMPANY ALL REPLACEMENT ORDERS.
