A. DESCRIPTION: (1) THE COMMAND SYSTEM, TACTICAL: AN/USC-55, Z24045 WILL BE CAPABLE OF PROVIDING FULL DUPLEX, RECEIVE ONLY AND RELAY FUNCTIONS, BETWEEN INTELLIGENCE PROCESSING FACILITIES AND USER HOST PROCESSORS. IT CAN OPERATE FULL DUPLEX IN TACTICAL RECONNAISSANCE INTELLIGENCE EXCHANGE SYSTEMS (TRIXS), SENIOR SPAN, AND TACTICAL INFORMATION BROADCAST SERVICE (TIBS) NETWORKS, AS A RELAY IN AND TACTICAL RELATED APPLICATIONS (TRAP)/ TACTICAL DATA INFORMATION EXCHANGE SYSTEMS -BROADCAST (TADIXS-B) NETWORKS. IT PROVIDES UP TO ONE FULL DUPLEX AND TWO RECEIVE ONLY ULTRA HIGH FREQUENCY (UHF) LINE OF SIGHT (LOS)/ SATELLITE COMMUNICATION (SATCOM) COMMUNICATIONS CHANNELS SIMULTANEOUSLY. ONE FULL DUPLEX OR RECEIVE ONLY CHANNEL CAN ALSO SUPPORT A GENERAL PURPOSE UHF SATELLITE LINK USING FREQUENCY MODULATION (FM), FREQUENCY SHIFT KEYING (FSK) OR PULSE SHIFT KEYING (PSK). RECEIVER TRANSMITTER UNIT WEIGHT IS APPROXIMATELY 57 POUNDS. PROCESSOR (R/B) WEIGHT IS APPROXIMATELY 63 POUNDS. ALL BOXES SHARE THE SAME SIZE CHASSIS. THE CHASSIS DIMENSIONS ARE 10.12 WIDE X 10.625 HEIGHT X 19.62 LENGTH TOTAL OF 2109.5 CUBIC INCHES. THE BOX DIMENSIONS DO NOT INCLUDE FRONT PANEL PROTRUSION. (2) THE SYSTEM HAS NO ITEMS CONSIDERED AS COMPONENTS. B. CAPABILITIES: THE COMMAND SYSTEM, TACTICAL GIVES THE FIELD COMMANDERS THE CAPABILITY TO ADJUST PREPLANNED COLLECTIONS TASKING. THE COMMAND SYSTEM, TACTICAL PROVIDES THE HEADQUARTER AT BATTLION AND HIGHER THE CAPABILITY TO RECEIVE PERISHABLE INTELLIGENCE INFORMATION FROM ARMY, AIR FORCE AND NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEMS. THE AN/USC-55 UNITS ARE INTEGRATED WITH HOST SYSTEM PROCESSORS. THE HOST SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO PROVIDE POWER FOR THE COMMAND SYSTEM, TACTICAL. THE HOST SYSTEMS IS ALSO EXPECTED TO PROVIDE ANTENNAS, ANTENNA CABLES, MASTS, PREAMPLIFIERS AND MOUNTING PROVISIONS FOR THE AN/USC-55. C. EMPLOYMENT: THE AN/USC-55 WILL BE UTILIZED BY AVIATION, FIELD ARTILLERY, AIR DEFENSE AND MILITARY INTELLIGENCE AT BATTALION AND HIGHER HEADQUARTERS. D. BASIS OF ISSUE: (1) AIR DEFENSE (A) ONE PER EACH ADA BRIGADE (B) TWO PER EACH PATRIOT BATTALION (C) THAADS BATTALION (TWO PER EACH THAADS BATTERY) (E) ONE PER EACH JOINT TACTICAL GROUND STATION (JTAGS), JTAGS DETACHMENT, ADA BRIGADE, EAC (2) FIELD ARTILLERY (A) ONE PER MULIPLE LAUNCH ROCKET SYSTEM (MLRS) BATTALIONS AT CORPS AND DIVISION. (B) SIX USAFASCH & FT SILL TRAINING BASE (3) MILITARY INTELLIGENCE (MI) (A) ONE PER GSM TEAM, MI BRIGADE, ECHELON ABOVE CORPS (EAC) (B) TWO PER OPERATIONS BATTALION, MI BRIGADE, AT CORPS (C) ONE PER MI BATTALION, CEWI, AT DIVISION (D) ARMOR CAVALRY REGIMENT (ACR) (ONE PER MI COMPANY) (E) SEPARATE BRIGADE (ONE PER MI COMPANY) (F) THREE PER CORPS AERIAL EXPLOITATION BATTALIONS (G) ONE PER ENHANCED TACTICAL RADAR CORRELATOR (ETRAC), MI BRIGADE, EAC (H) TWO USAIC & FH TRAINING BASE (4) AVIATION (A) ONE PER AVIATION BATTALION E. POWER REQUIREMENTS: THE HOST SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO PROVIDE POWER FOR THE COMMAND SYSTEM, TACTICAL AN/USC-55 OF 110 VAC PLUS 10 PERCENT, 47-66 HZ AT A MAXIMUM OF 400 WATTS. F. TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS: HOST SYSTEM ORGANIC EQUIPMENT. G. PERSONNEL/MAINTENANCE IMPACTS. (1) OPERATOR OF THIS EQUIPMENT WILL BE THE HOST SYSTEM OPERATOR. NO MOS PECULIAR SKILL ARE REQUIRED FOR THE OPERATION OF THIS EQUIPMENT. HOST SYSTEM OPERATORS: (A) ONE MOS 96B/INTELLIGENCE ANALYST OR (B) ONE MOS 96H/AERIAL INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST OR (C) ONE MOS 98C/SIGNAL INTELLIGENCE ANALYST OR (D) ONE MOS 98J/NON COMMUNICATIONS INTERCEPTOR/ ANALYST OR (E) ONE MOS 24T/PATRIOT OPERATOR AND SYSTEM MECHANIC OR (F) ONE MOS 13P/MULTIPLE LAUNCH ROCKET SYSTEM LANCE OPERATIONS/FIRE DIRECTION SPECIALIST OR (G) ONE MOS 13E/CANNON FIRE DIRECTION SPECIALIST OR (H) ONE MOS 13F/FIRE SUPPORT SPECIALIST OR (I) ONE MOS 96B/INTELLIGENCE ANALYST (AVIATION) NOTE: OPERATOR OF THIS EQUIPMENT WILL BE HOST EQUIPMENT MOS QUALIFIED; HOWEVER NO MOS PECULIAR SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR OPERATION OF THE AN/USC-55. (2) MAINTAINERS: (A) UNIT-LEVEL MAINTENANCE: 31U, 33R AND 33T. (B) DIRECT SUPPORT MAINTENANCE: 33R, 33T AND 35E. (C) GENERAL SUPPORT MAINTENANCE: NONE (D) AVUM MAINTENANCE: 68N. MAINTENANCE MAY BE PERFORMED BY 68N UNDER AVUM LEVEL IN FUTURE APPLICATIONS. H. SPECIAL NOTES: (1) BOING IS APPROPRIATE FOR INCLUSION IN AR 71-13. (2) NEW EQUIPMENT TRAINING (NET) MAY BE FOUND IN NET PLAN CEC94OO5. CONTRACTOR OPERATOR INSTRUCTOR KEY PERSONNEL (IKP) WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE INDIVIDUAL BATTLEFIELD FUNCTIONAL AREAS (BFAS) WHO WILL INTEGRATE BASIC OPERATOR FUNCTIONS INTO THEIR UNIQUE NET PACKAGES BASED ON HOST SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS. CONTRACTOR MAINTENANCE IKP WILL BE CONDUCTED AND BE AVAILABLE FOR BFAS TO DO THEIR OWN NET OR FOR NET TO BE PROVIDED BY CECOM NET TEAM. INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING BASE WILL BE ESTABLISHED AT USAIC & FORT HUACHUCA AZ. INDIVIDUAL BFAS PROPONENT SCHOOLS MAY INTEGRATE COMMAND SYSTEM, TACTICAL, AN/USC-55 TRAINING INTO THEIR MOS COURSES AS APPROPRIATE.
