Joint Maritime Information Element Support System Enhancement & Modernization (JEM)

Current JSS provides JMIE consortium members with access to repositiries of formatted data at
the secert level on worldwide merchant vessel locations, characrteristics, registries/ownership, commerical
cargo imports and exports through U.S. ports, commerical cargo imports and exports in selected foreign
countries and worldwide ports.
The DoD is in the process of establishing a simplified baseline of the best, common
information systems across the business functions of the Department. These migration systems represent a
stage of process improvement designed at achieving a common set of automated processes and practices in
DoD.
