Flight Line Test Set
A. DESCRIPTION: The Flight Line Test Set provides
maintenance personnel (33R and BASI Contractors) with an
environmential protected area, ground-based, mobile vehicle that
contains automated test equipment used for preoperational power-up,
preflight checkout, and maintenance of the ARFs. The tests
exercise signal paths through a variety of associated TMDE to
determine if an equipment malfunction exists in the ARF. It
contains a sound insulated power unit, four shock mounted
electronic equipment racks, space for lockable cabinets for
classified items, components for initiating and calibrating the
testing band data link capabilities and work bench for maintenance
testing. Main equipment items are: HP 9836S computer, HP 6942A
Multiprogrammer for data acquisition and control interface unit,
link multiplexers and demultiplexers, wide band data link, assorted
test equipment and environmental trailer. The system is self
deployable on improved roads, however cannot be rail transportable.
It requires a 6.5 Kw at 60 Hz generator on a modified two wheeled
trailer. Van is a modified commercial step van and the dimensions
are: Length 23 feet 5 inches, Width 8 feet 5 inches, Height 8 feet
11 inches, Weight 11,700 pounds, Cube 1718 cubic feet. This
facility requires 30 Kw at 60 Hz which is provided by generator LIN
Z75545.
B. CAPABILITIES: Flight Line Test Set (AN/ARM-163 (V) 5): is
deployable world-wide, self deployable intra-theater on improved
roads, however, cannot be rail transported; system is manned by 33R
and BASI contractors; main equipment items are: HP 9836S computer,
