THE PURPOSE OF ASAS IS TO FUSE INTELLIGENCE FROM VARIOUS SOURCES TO DEVELOP THE COLLATERAL COMMON RELEVANT ENEMY PICTURE OF THE BATTLEFIELD. EACH WORKSTATION USES THE BASELINED ASAS BLOCK II SOFTWARE THAT PROVIDES INTEGRATED ALL SOURCE (AS) AND SINGLE SOURCE (SS) FUNCTIONALITY. a. WORKSTATIONS PERFORMING ALL SOURCE (AS) FUNCTIONS PROVIDE A SEMI-AUTOMATED INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS, PRODUCTION, AND DISSEMINATION CAPABILITY TO THE ACE. THE AS WORKSTATION WILL HAVE THREE HIGH-LEVEL CATEGORIES OF FUNCTIONALITY: SYSTEMS SERVICES SUPPORT, COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT, AND INTELLIGENCE APPLICATIONS. THE SUPPORTING SOFTWARE WILL BE ORGANIZED INTO THREE MODULES: SYSTEM SOFTWARE MODULE (SSM); COMMUNICATIONS SOFTWARE MODULE (CSM); AND APPLICATIONS SOFTWARE MODULE (ASM). EACH OF THESE MODULES WILL BE DIVIDED INTO COMPUTER SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION ITEMS (CSCI) WHICH WILL PERMIT THE SIMULTANEOUS PROCESSING OF BOTH INTERACTIVE AND AUTOMATIC INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS ACTIVITIES. THE INTERACTIVE FUNCTIONS REQUIRE THE JUDGEMENT AND/OR EXPERT KNOWLEDGE OF AN ANALYST OR SUPERVISOR. AUTOMATIC PROCESSING FUNCTIONS WHICH ARE FACTORY-SET OR SYSTEM-SUPVSR-SET WILL BE TRANSPARENT TO THE ANALYST. b. WORKSTATIONS PERFORMING SS FUNCTIONS PROVIDE SINGLE SOURCE ANALYSIS AND PROCESSING CAPABILITY. FUNCTIONALITY INCLUDES MAP OPERATIONS, OVERLAY OPERATIONS, TEMPLATE OPER- ATIONS, DATABASE UTILITIES MANIPULATION, FILE AND USER UTIL- ITIES WITH ANALYSTIC TOOLS TAILORED TO THE SUPPORTED SOURCE OPERATIONS (SIGINT, IMINT, CI/HUMINT) ASSET MANAGEMENT, OFFICE PRODUCT SUITE, COMMUNICATIONS/MESSAGE UTILITIES, AND SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION. THE SS WORKSTATIONS INTERFACE WITH VARIOUS ORGANIC SENSORS, EXTERNAL DATA SOURCES THROUGH THE JOINT DEFENSE INTELLIGENCE SUPPORT SERVICES (JDISS) OVERSTANDARD COMMUNICATIONS LINKS. 2.
