THE CCS: AN/TYQ-40A(V)3, PROVIDES SEMIAUTOMATIC COMMUNICATIONS INTERFACE MESSAGE CONCENTRATION AND PROTOCOL CONVERSION FOR TACTICAL ELEMENTS OF THE US ARMY. AS THE COMMUNICATIONS HUB FOR ASAS, CCS SUPPORTS IEW MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, DISTRIBUTION OF NEAR REAL-TIME INTELLIGENCE INFORMATION REPORTS, AND RELAYS IEW TASKING MESSAGES. THE CCS'S ROUTING AND DISTRIBUTION TABLES AUTOMATICALLY ROUTE MESSAGES TO THE CORRECT DESTINATION. THE CCS PROVIDES NEAR-REAL TIME INTELLIGENCE INFORMATION TO THE BATTLEFIELD COMMANDERS FOR USE IN THE MANAGEMENT OF INTELLIGENCE DATA THROUGHOUT THE CORPS/THEATER AREA OF OPERATIONS BY USING THE FOLLOWING FIVE SUBSYSTEMS TO PERFORM ITS FUNCTIONS: a. THE COMMUNICATION PROCESSING SUBSYSTEM (CPS) PROCESSES INPUT/OUTPUT INFORMATION, PRINTS AN AUDIT TRAIL, AND PROCESSES, ROUTES, SECURITY CHECKS, AND SAFE-STORES MESSAGES. THE CPS PRINTS REPORTS AND COMMUNICATES FULLY FORMATTED MESSAGES TO THE COMMU- NICATIONS INTERFACE SUBSYSTEM. THE CPS ENABLES THE OPERATOR TO PRINT, REVIEW, AND RETRANSMIT VARIOUS TYPES OF MESSAGES, AS REQUIRED. b. THE COMMUNICATION INTERFACE SUBSYSTEM (CIS) PROVIDES CAPABILITIES TO RECEIVE AND TRANSMIT SECURE SENSITIVE COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION (SCI) AND COLLATERAL INFORMATION. THE CIS PROVIDES INTERFACES BETWEEN THE CPS AND USERS/CONSUMERS OF INTELLIGENCE WHO ARE CONNECTED TO THE CCS. c. THE SHELTER SUBSYSTEM PROVIDES PHYSICAL PROTECTION FROM THE ENVIRONMENT TO INCLUDE: AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL UNIT FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROL OF THOSE ITEMS LOCATED OUTSIDE THE SHELTER; NORMAL LIGHTING PLUS AN EMERGENCY LIGHT; POWER, SIGNAL, AND DATA INPUT/OUTPUT ENTRY PANELS; POWER DISTRIBUTION CONTROL. d. THE POWER DISTRIBUTION SUBSYSTEM (PDS) PROVIDES: MAIN POWER INPUT AND CIRCUIT BREAKER PROTECTION; AUTOMATIC PROTECTION OF CCS EQUIPMENT FROM OUT-OF-TOLERANCE ALTERNA- TING CURRENT POWER INPUT; AUTOMATIC MONITORING AND DISPLAY OF PHASE AND VOLTAGE LEVELS FOR CREW ANALYSIS; ELECTRO- MAGNETIC INTERFACE/RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFACE FILTERING OF AC POWER INPUT. THE PDS ALSO PROVIDES CONTROL AND DISTRIBUTION OF AC POWER. e. THE INTRUSION DETECTION SUBSYSTEM (IDS) PROVIDES DETECTION OF PHYSICAL SECURITY CONDITIONS AND OUTPUTS STATUS SIGNALS FROM CONNECTION TO NON-CCS SECURITY REMOTE MONITORING EQUIPMENT. MODULE TESTING IS MADE THROUGH OFF-LINE DIAGNOSTICS. 2. DURING OPERATIONS, CCS RECEIVES FORMATTED SENSOR DATA THROUGH A VARIETY OF CIRCUITS/COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS. THE CSP EVALUATES AND VERIFIES MESSAGE ROUTING WITH RESPECT TO THE MESSAGE SECURITY LEVEL, MESSAGE CONTENT, TYPE OF MESSAGE, AND CIRCUIT CLASSIFICATION. IT ALSO EVALUATES OUTBOUND MESSAGE FORMATS AND HEADER DATA FOR VALIDITY. 3. THE CCS IS DEPENDENT ON THE SUPPORTING SIGNAL UNIT TO PROVIDE SECURE RECORD (TACTICAL PACKET) AND VOICE TRAFFIC INTERFACES TO THE AREA SYSTEM. IT ALSO RELIES ON TROJAN SPIRIT II TO PROVIDE SECURE ACCESS TO THE JOINT WORLD-WIDE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM (JWICS). EACH CCS PROVIDES AUTOMATED COMMUNICATIONS PROCESSING SUPPORT TO EFFICIENTLY SECURE ALL REQUIRED INTERFACES, INCLUDING: ANALOG AND DIGITAL CIRCUIT VOICE AND RECORD TRAFFIC CAPABILITIES OF TACTICAL COMMUUNICAIONS SYSTEMS GENERAL SERVICE (GENSER) (R-ADDRESSEES), AND DEFENSE SPECIAL SECURITY COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (DSSCS) (Y-ADDRESSEES).
