1999 - Year of Generalised Popular Resistance

COMMUNIQUE NO. 38/CPP/99

UNITA has in its possession irrefutable proof of how the delegation of the World Food Programme in Angola (PAM) has been supplying food and fuel to Eduardo dos Santos Armed Forces. This is similar to what happened during the armed conflict in 1993/1994 in Bie/Kwito, when UNITA discovered that PAM planes transported from Luanda to Kwito, MPLA propaganda material, military communications radios and codes hidden in bags containing food.

The honest contributor to the World Food Programme (PAM) should now know that the help they are giving to the needy Angolans, victims of the war started by Eduardo dos Santos, is being manipulated and diverted to the armed forces of the MPLA regime which indiscriminately massacres the peaceful citizens who refuse to join the MPLA.

UNITA demand that the community of donors immediately urge the representative of (PAM) in Angola to furnish without delay, through its officials in Huambo, Bie, Malange and Saurimo, circumstantial reports which prove unequivocally that the food and fuel of PAM were not recently supplied to Eduardo dos Santos armed forces. Failing that, UNITA reserves the absolute right to publish all proof it has which is based on vocation, statute and mandate of PAM.

UNITA

STANDING COMMITTEE OF THE POLITICAL COMMISSION

1999 - Year of Generalised Popular Resistance

COMMUNIQUE NO. 39/CPP/99

1. The MPLA regime installed itself in 1975 in Angola by force assisted by the expeditionary Soviet Cuban mercenaries. It has survived, thanks to the mercenary forces. It has exerted the most terrible acts of violence and exclusion against the true Angolans to facilitate the drainage of the natural wealth of our nation, to benefit foreigners and a handful of MPLA Leaders.

2. UNITA has never stopped denouncing the existence of mercenaries in the ranks of the regime in Luanda.

After the MPLA's acquisition of tens of Tucano type planes, made in Brazil, Eduardo dos Santos has also recruited Brazilian pilots who are deployed on all military fronts in Angola. They are directly involved in military operations piloting those planes in support of Eduardo dos Santos' ground forces, massacring defenceless populations.

The Eduardo dos Santos' military offensive has been in progress since September 1999.

3. UNITA has gathered enough evidence about the Brazilians taking part in combats against the Angolans - this will be made public. In this context, UNITA declares that anything within the Angolan national territory, identified as Brazil's interest, is, from today, considered a target and will not be spared by the Generalised Popular Resistance.

If the Angolan nation's natural wealth induces immorality, all those who assimilate immorality will be fought until Angola is set free.
