Rwandan Liberation Army
In January 1998 insurgents calling themselves the Rwandan Liberation Army distributed leaflets stating that all who opposed them would be beheaded. They subsequently killed between 60 and 70 persons in four communes in Gitarama and beheaded some of their victims. Local officials of both ethnic groups were targeted.
