93). There was an interim period of roughly 6 months between Ivanov’s retirement and Grin’s appointment during
which time the post of commander was left vacant. One source suggests that
this was due to a debate within the Ministry of Defense as to whether or
not to preserve the Space Forces during the period of reductions. Grin

in regions with severe climatic conditions - in Kazakhstan, Murmansk, and the Komi
ASSR. In the future he would hold positions of formation
commander, chief of staff - deputy commander of Missile and Space Defense
[RKO], and chief of staff of the RKO RVSN [Strategic Missile
Troops]. In 1999, he became chief of the RKO RVSN Troops

section of the Russian- Azerbaijani commission that is tasked to
determine chattels of the Gabala radar
station that are to become property of the Russian
