Job Title: Research Assistant

Description: The Federation of American Scientists (FAS) is a small nonprofit research organization, founded in 1945 by Manhattan Project scientists. FAS works to ensure that scientific advances are used to build a secure future for all people by conducting research and advocacy on science and public policy issues, particularly in the area of international security.

The Strategic Security Project at FAS is searching for an energetic research assistant to support work on nuclear weapons and uranium enrichment proliferation, nuclear testing, space weapons, and science policy.

The research assistant would work closely with and support PhD physicists on the FAS staff but would be expected to spend a fraction of their effort on their own research projects. The successful candidate will work with world-class researchers and address policy issues of immediate interest to the public, the press, Congress, and academia. The FAS environment is collegial and intellectually stimulating.
