The Army Has Changed…
- Our equipment and units must be more deployable
But it isn’t enough to meet contingency requirements...
- Changed Heavy Division design-reduced 3.5 divisions
- Fielded 7+ brigade sets of Prepo (APS)
- Embedding digitization in our equipment
- Develop light force modernization plan
We have maintained our ability to win the Theater Wars…
Notes:
Since the end of the Cold War, our Army has changed significantly while we have maintained our ability to win Major Theater Wars.
With the Force XXI experimentation we have been able to reduce our heavy division design by about 25% or the equivalent of 3.5 divisions. This was made possible by leveraging information technologies to gain better situational awareness of the battlespace.
We have over 7 sets of Brigade pre-positioned equipment around the world to enable us to react faster to flashpoints in certain regions.
We are embedding digitization in our equipment and modernizing our light forces to make them more lethal and survivable.
With all that, we are still challenged to meet the ever more frequent contingency requirements.
Our equipment must be more deployable in order to get it to the contingency area in time to affect the outcome.
