AMD AUGMENTATION FOR THE BRIGADE

• BRIGADE HAS A SMALL ORGANIC, ADA CELL FOR AMD PLANNING AND COORDINATION THAT FACILITATES SITUATIONAL AWARENESS / EARLY WARNING FOR PASSIVE AMD (THREAT AVOIDANCE)

• BRIGADE HAS NO ORGANIC ADA FOR ACTIVE DEFENSE

• BRIGADE RELIES UPON ORGANIC DIVISIONAL ADA AUGMENTATION FOR DS / GS ACTIVE DEFENSE PROTECTION FROM AERIAL THREATS

• BRIGADE USUALLY PART OF A LARGER GROUND OR JOINT FORCE - MAY RECEIVE COINCIDENTAL AMD FROM EAB AMD FORCES / SYSTEMS

• Only organic AMD capability will be within the “Brigade” staff. Its purpose it to provide a dedicated and experienced cadre of AMD personnel to provide the “Brigade” commander a continual AMD assessment and force composition recommendation.

• AMD Cell interoperates with the Aviation Cell, providing airspace coordination and continual airspace surveillance in consonance with available sensors to enable early warning for passive AMD.

• AMD augmentation will be resourced from the divisional ADA battalion organic to each division.
  • Augmentation will be METT-TC dependent and usually in direct support of the “Brigade.”
  • Augmentation packages will by hybrid organizations comprised of sensors, shooters, & C2.
  • AMD Cell provides the hooks for Augmentee integration

• AMD augmentation to the “Brigade” will usually complement Echelon Above Brigade (EAB) AMD. EAB AMD will comprise the Integrated Air Defense System (IADS)
