General

Counterintelligence assets’ primary mission is force protection. The EAC CI Coordinating Authority is responsible for advising the EAC commander and J2 on significant CI investigations, operations, collection, and production activities affecting the EAC; coordinating with all service CI organizations to support the EAC's CI requirements; ensuring that CI activities relevant to the EAC reflect the commander's priorities; and coordinating CI activities with other intracommand activities to eliminate duplication and possible conflict of interest.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Evaluating the threat to EAC forces from espionage, subversion, sabotage, and terrorism.
• Coordinating CI and terrorist matters between the EAC and other U.S. or allied organizations.
• Providing CI and terrorist estimates, summaries, and reports to EAC and other commands, as necessary.
• Preparing, disseminating, and maintaining CI requirements.
• Generating specific CI/ terrorism collection requirements.
• Receiving, processing, conducting initial analysis of and disseminating time-sensitive I&W intelligence reporting to the JTF Staff and operating commands and activities attached to or supporting the JTF mission.
• Preparing and disseminating spot, critical, and periodic intelligence reports to higher, adjacent, and subordinate commands as required. Providing subordinate commands with guidance on required intelligence reports.
