General

The NATO Cell is a corps staff plug and is required whenever operating as a NATO subordinate organization as an ARFOR, JFLCC or JTF.  This cell serves as the administrative control staff for all NATO administrative requirements from the EAC to senior HQ NATO Cell Chiefs or directly to the NATO theater commander.  Specific requirements are below.

NATO Classified Document Control.

Control of NATO classified documents will be in accordance with SM 25-13 and the following supplementary instructions:
The EAC commander will appoint a NATO Control Officer or custodian of NATO classified documents. The head of each EAC staff division will appoint an E-6 or above as the NATO Custodian for NATO classified documents for his office. One or more alternates may be appointed. Individuals appointed must possess a final NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET security clearance.

All NATO classified documents will be routed through the EACJ1-AG NATO Control Officer and Custodian, who will assign a control number to each NATO document originated and received. All EAC personnel will be informed that any NATO classified documents received by them directly will be immediately taken to the EACJ1-AG NATO Control Officer and Custodian.

Obtaining Subregistry Status

COSMIC and ATOMAL Subregistry authorizations for the EAC HQ’s Adjutant General and the EAC HQ’s Communications Center will be obtained through HQ Theater EACJ1-A from the Central U.S. Registry prior to deployment of the EAC.
