General

Operations

This element maintains situation maps up-to-date, coordinate intelligence operations of subordinate elements, and is the focal point for other staff element contact to integrate the plan into current operations, assess current t operations and make value judgments on upcoming operations. Component Command augment to provide service-unique collection, processing, production, and dissemination.  This is the staff that first translates information collected from current operations into intelligence and concurrently applies known intelligence to the current operation as an integration of all staff and service component input and output requirements.

Planning

This function focuses on "tomorrow’s" operational requirements and requires OB and analytical support to produce threat estimates for all OPLANS and Operations Orders (OPORDS). Component command personnel are included based on the force mix and the size of the operation. Planning support includes:

  • Preparing intelligence estimates and annexes supporting JTF OPLANs, CONPLANs, and OPORDs.
  • Planning and managing the assignment of intelligence augmentation forces to the JTF.
  • Providing guidance and authority for foreign disclosure, per existing directives.
