   1.  MISSION.  TO PROVIDE FIELD ARTILLERY SUPPORT TO AN
   AIRBORNE DIVISION.

   2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO AN AIRBORNE DIVISION, TOE
   57000L.

   3.  CAPABILITIES.

       A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES:

           (1) CONVENTIONAL ARTILLERY FIRES IN DIRECT SUPPORT
   OF UNITS OF THE AIRBORNE DIVISION UNDER ALL CONDITIONS OF
   TERRAIN AND WEATHER.

           (2) COMMAND AND CONTROL OF ORGANIC AND ATTACHED
   FIELD ARTILLERY UNITS.

           (3) FIRE SUPPORT ELEMENTS/TEAMS TO ALL MANEUVER
   ELEMENTS OF THE DIVISION.

           (4) ACQUIRES TARGETS BY MEANS OF VISUAL OBSERVATION
   AND MORTAR LOCATING RADARS.

           (5) METEOROLOGICAL DATA TO:

               (A)  ATTACHED UNITS.
               (B)  DIVISIONAL UNITS FOR FALLOUT PREDICTION.
               (C)  U.S. AIR FORCE AIR WEATHER SERVICE.

       B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
   FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
   FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
   FOR LEVEL 3.

       C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

       D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVEL 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
   DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED BY AR
   220-1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

       E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT CHAPLAINS
   AND MEDICAL PERSONNEL, CAN ASSIST IN THE COORDINATED DEFENSE
   OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

       F.  THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL ORGANIC
   VEHICLES AND COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT.

       G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT ON:

           (1) APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE DIVISION OR CORPS
   FOR LEGAL, FINANCE, AND PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE
   SERVICES.

           (2) DIVISION MEDICAL BATTALION TOE 08065L FOR
   MEDICAL EVACUATION.

           (3)  CORPS TARGET ACQUISITION DETACHMENT, TOE
   06413L, FOR MOVING TARGET LOCATING RADAR AND ARTILLERY
   LOCATING RADAR SUPPORT.  IT IS ALSO DEPENDENT ON THIS
   ORGANIZATION FOR ITS TARGET PRODUCTION SECTION.

   4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  ONE PER AIRBORNE DIVISION, TOE
   57000L.

   5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT.
