    e.  Major Changes.  As part of this revision, this TOE has
also been updated to reflect approved doctrine and the latest
information concerning changes in operational concept, O&O plans,
and related BOIP data.  Selected analysis summary information is
listed at enclosure 1.


2.  MISSION/CAPABILITIES/SECTION I.

    a.  To close with and destroy the enemy by means of fire and
maneuver in order to destroy or capture him, or to repel his
assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack.

    b.  See the TOE Section I's for a complete list of
capabilities and limitations of this organization and its
subordinate units.

3.  ASSIGNMENT.  Assigned to an Airborne Division or Separate
Airborne Brigade.

4.  PERSONNEL.

    a.  Differences between design and documented OTOE

    b.  MARC Deviations:  There is one 92Y E3 in the S4 Sec to
coordinate and hand receipts for airdrop supply equipment.

    c.  Detailed rationale for doctrinal personnel requirements
are in the accompanying TOE Analysis--Narrative Discussion for
each TOE.

    d.  The net officer/NCO force impact of this TOE is a
increase/decrease of zero officers and increase of one NCO
due to CINCOS. There is one 63B1P and one 92Y1P added to the
base due to MARC. TOE strenth increased by (2) personnel.

    e.  The risk resulting from decrements is minimal.

5.  EQUIPMENT.  The primary equipment systems for TOE 07035C000:

    a.  Equipment reflected in these TOE represents the minimal
essential wartime requirements with normal modernization from the
base to the objective TOE.

6.  COST.

    a.  Cost Analysis Summaries for each of the Objective TOE are
provided below.

    b.  Force structure information for each TOE is based on
current M-Force and E-Date 20031016.

    c.  HQDA approved commodity consumption rates were used in
the development of these TOE's and are reflected in the Cost
Analysis Summaries.

    d.  The differences in cost are primarily due to the
demodernization of the Base TOE.

           (7) PROVIDES MORTAR FIRE SUPPORT FOR ORGANIC AND
   ATTACHED UNITS.

           (8)  CONDUCTS PATROLLING OPERATIONS.

           (9) PARTICIPATES IN AIR TRANSPORTED (AIRMOBILE)
   OPERATIONS WHEN PROVIDED SUFFICIENT TRANSPORTATION.

           (10) MANEUVERS IN ALL TYPES OF TERRAIN UNDER ALL
   CLIMATIC CONDITIONS.

           (11) PROVIDES THE CAPABILITY FOR FREQUENT AIRBORNE
   ASSAULTS BY PARACHUTE OR ASSAULT AIRCRAFT WITH MINIMUM
   MARSHALLING AND PLANNING.

           (12) PROVIDES HEALTH SERVICE SUPPORT FOR ORGANIC
   AND ATTACHED UNITS.

       B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
   FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
   FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
   FOR LEVEL 3.

       C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION

           (1) APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE DIVISION OR CORPS
   FOR LEGAL, HEALTH SERVICE SUPPORT, FINANCE, PERSONNEL AND
   ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES, SUPPLEMENTAL TRANSPORTATION, AND
   MEDICAL EQUIPMENT REPAIR.

           (2) FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION, TOE 06205L000, FOR
   FIRE SUPPORT TEAMS (FIST) TO PROVIDE OBSERVED FIRE SUPPORT
   AND COORDINATION.

           (3) THE QUARTERMASTER AIRDROP EQUIPMENT SUPPORT
   COMPANY, TOE 10337L000, FOR INSPECTION AND TECHNICAL
   ASSISTANCE IN PACKING, RIGGING, AND LOADING OF SUPPLIES AND
   EQUIPMENT FOR AIRDROP;  AND THE INSPECTION AND PACKING OF
   PARACHUTES FOR AIRDROP OPERATION.

           (4)  AN US AIR FORCE TACTICAL AIR CONTROL PARTY
   (TACP) FOR DIRECTING TACTICAL AIR SUPPORT.

   4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  NINE PER INFANTRY DIVISION
   (AIRBORNE); NORMALLY THREE PER BRIGADE.

   5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT.
