The LAU-88A and
LAU-88A/A are
triple rail launching systems used on the A-10 and the F-16. They are
one of
two launchers designed to fire the AGM-65 Maverick. The other, a newer
single
rail system, is the LAU-117/A. Due to high drag, modified versions of
the LAU-88A/A
have been fitted to high performance aircrafts like the F-16. In these
versions
drag has dropped by as much as 60 percent. This Hughes product can only
be
fitted to nr. 3 and 7 stations of the F-16, where as the LAU-117/A can
be
fitted to nr. 3, 4, 6 and 7 stations.
