Title: Command Relationships
Dialogue: Before I talk to you about MLRS unit locations, I want to briefly discuss command relationships. Having an understanding of established command relationships for MLRS units will help you understand the logic when assigning a tactical mission to a MLRS unit. The force commander will establish one of the following relationships for each MLRS unit:
Organic
Assigned
Attached
Operational Control (OPCON)
The MLRS battalion is organic to corps, but normally assigned or attached to a headquarters and headquarters battery (HHB), FA brigade. It may be further attached to a HHB, DIVARTY. The MLRS divisional battery is organic to armored and mechanized infantry divisions.
