Dialogue: This is the basic rocket for MLRS. It is most effective against personnel and soft and lightly armored targets with a Target Location Error (TLE) of 150 m or less. Warhead event is initiated by an electronic time fuze (M445). The fuze triggers a center burst charge which causes the warhead to rupture and the polyurethane filler to shatter, thus causing the rocket to dispense 644 M77 dual-purpose, improved conventional munitions (DPICM) over the target area.
