Dialogue: MLRS units are employed to provide medium range rocket and long range missile fires to destroy, neutralize or suppress the enemy in accordance with Army depth and simultaneous attack doctrine. As MLRS Battery Commanders and/or staff officers responsible for the planning and control of MLRS units and their fires, you must understand the targeting and fireplanning processes and how they apply to MLRS. It is also important to know the capabilities and limitations of the tactical fire direction and fire control equipment peculiar to MLRS. Finally, the operational safety requirements of the system are important to understand in order to maximize the firepower and survivability of MLRS units, while minimizing risk.
