Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. [KHI] has long been involved as a prime contractor in the development and mass production of anti-tank missiles [MAT]. Three such weapons continue in production: the Type-64 MAT, the Type-79 anti- ship/anti-armor missile and the Type-87 MAT. The Type-64, adopted over three decades ago, still remains as Self-Defense Forces equipment.
