- HUNGARY'S FOREIGN MINISTER ON NATO ENTRY USIA 12 March 1999 -- "NATO enlargement is not a zero-sum game,
but part of a prudent strategy benefiting all nations of Europe, all
members of the Atlantic Community," Hungary's Minister of Foreign
Affairs Janos Martonyi said March 12 during the accession ceremony at
the Truman Library.

- TEXT: RFE/RL PRESS RELEASE ON HUNGARIAN OFFICIAL'S REMARKS USIA 04 December 1998 -- Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty issued a press release reporting that Zsolt Nemeth, state secretary in the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, remarked in a briefing December 4 that Hungary is concerned that a "new Iron Curtain" based on social and economic factors may emerge if the countries of Central and Eastern Europe are not included in the European Union and NATO in a timely fashion.
