As Beijing Correspondent Leta Hong Fincher reports, Japan's Foreign Minister, Yohei Kono aired his concerns at the beginning of his four-day visit to Beijing. TEXT: A spokesman for Japan's Foreign Minister, Yasuhisa Kawamura, told reporters that Chinese naval activities in Japanese waters dominated the discussion between Japanese Foreign Minister, Yohei Kono and Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan. Mr. Kawamura said the activities have caused many Japanese to worry about China's intentions towards their country. /// KAWAMURA ACT /// The feeling of distrust among the Japanese people towards Chinese people is rising, and this is a concern for him to promote Japan-China friendly relations. Therefore, Mr. Kono requested the Chinese side to restrain its naval vessel activities near the Japanese territorial waters. /// END ACT /// But Mr. Kawamura said the Chinese Foreign Minister, Mr. Tang, assured Mr. Kono that Chinese ships will no longer intrude into Japanese waters. He said the two countries have agreed to set up a system to notify each other in advance of naval research activities. Japan says it has recorded 17-cases of Chinese ships entering what it considers its exclusive economic-zone this year. As a result of concern over the Chinese naval incursions, Japan's Liberal Democratic Party has delayed approving a 161-million dollar loan to China until after Mr. Kono's visit to Beijing.
