State Department Regular Briefing
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE
DAILY PRESS BRIEFING
THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2001 - 12:50 P.M.
(ON THE RECORD UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED)
Q: Anything to say about South Korea's announcement of a more robust
missile program?
BOUCHER: I think we did release a statement on that already. Right,
Chuck?
MR. HUNTER: Right.
Q: There was another Korean statement. Is this on the missile program
itself?
BOUCHER: The South Korean missile program?
Q: Yes.
BOUCHER: Yes. I think we did release a statement that said that the
South Koreans had made their announcement, that we have been in
conversations with them for many years - I think it goes back five
years - and that we certainly welcome the fact that this program was
going to be within missile technology control regime guidelines.
Q: Never saw it, but thank you.
(The briefing was concluded at 1:30 P.M.)
